The specialization in Orthopaedic and Traumas was introduced to strengthen the capacity of Orthopaedic Specialists in managing musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, which are among the leading causes of morbidity in Kenya. With the rising rate of road traffic accidents, occupational injuries, and degenerative bone diseases, the need for focused expertise in this field has become more critical than ever.

Orthopaedic and Trauma training equips Orthopaedic Specialists with the skills to provide preventive, diagnostic, surgical, and rehabilitative care related to bones, joints and soft tissue injuries. The course emphasizes practical hands-on experience and evidence-based management, enabling graduates to serve effectively in hospitals, emergency units and outreach settings across both urban as well as rural areas. As such, the program plays a vital role in enhancing access to quality orthopaedic care throughout Kenya’s healthcare system.
