Sulphuric Acid (H₂SO₄) is a highly corrosive, strong mineral acid and a powerful dehydrating and oxidizing agent.
At the molecular level, it dissociates in water to release hydrogen ions (H⁺), making it extremely acidic, while its dehydrating nature allows it to remove water from organic tissues, causing severe chemical burns. It can also oxidize certain compounds, contributing to its reactivity.
In practical use, it is widely applied in industrial processes (e.g., fertilizer production, petroleum refining, battery electrolytes). Medically, it is not used therapeutically due to its extreme toxicity, but its hazards are important in toxicology and chemical safety contexts.
