Aluminium Powder

Aluminium Powder (Al) is a finely divided form of the metal aluminium, characterized by a large surface area and high chemical reactivity compared to bulk aluminium.

Scientifically, although aluminium is normally protected by a thin oxide layer (Al₂O₃), in powdered form this protection is reduced, allowing it to react readily with oxygen. This makes it a strong reducing agent and highly energetic in oxidation reactions, releasing significant heat.

In application, it is used in metallurgy (e.g., thermite reactions), pigments (paints and coatings), explosives, and pyrotechnics. In pharmaceutical and cosmetic contexts, it may appear in controlled forms (e.g., pastes or coatings), but inhalation of fine powder can pose respiratory hazards, so it must be handled with care.
